Walgreens-Balance-Rewards

Walgreens is updating their rewards program. Effective August 25th, Balance Rewards will have a new points expiration policy. Points will expire on a rolling 12–month basis for active members.

So basically, if you have been saving points for awhile, you need to redeem them before August 25th. Any old points not redeemed by then, will be lost!

UPDATE: Rumors are confirmed. You can read about the new program “Plenti” HERE.

There have been rumors swirling around that Rite Aid is ending their UP program. This week, the March 29 ad was leaked and there are no UP rewards in it. I would say that pretty much seals the deal. Rite Aid customer service has been very cagey in answering questions but posted this on their facebook page:

To our valued customers:

Rest assured that Rite Aid will continue to provide great opportunities for you to save on the everyday products that you purchase. You can check back often on our Facebook page as we share those opportunities throughout the year and continually explore how to add value to our promotional offerings for our customers.

If you have large value UP rewards, don’t bank on rolling them past March 29.

new Walgreens coupon policy (May 2014) May 30, 2014

Walgreens has updated their coupon policy…and it’s not pretty. You can view it HERE. I also have a list of current coupon policies on the sidebar of the blog.

A quick explanation of the changes:

  • Walgreens will not accept coupons that exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons.

Previously, if you bought an item for $.99 but had a $1 coupon, Walgreens would adjust the value so the coupon could be used. This will no longer be allowed.

  • For offers when multiple items are purchased and additional items are free (buy 1 get 1 free; buy 2 get 1 free, etc.), the number of coupons applied to that offer cannot exceed the number of items required in the “buy” portion of the offer.
  • Coupons may not be applied against any free item received in any offer.
  • When items are featured in a Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion, at least one product needs to be purchased. A maximum of one BOGO coupon is permitted per two qualifying items in a BOGO offer.

In the past, you could stack a BOGO coupon on top of a BOGO sale and get both items for free. With the new policy, you would have to buy 4 items in order to use the BOGO coupon on top of a BOGO sale.

In the past, you could buy products on sale BOGO and use coupons on the free items. Example: You used to be able to buy 2 Purex detergents on sale BOGO and use a $3/2 coupon. With the new policy, you would have to buy 4 detergents on sale BOGO if you wanted to use the $3/2 coupon (the coupon applies to the 2 items that you purchased NOT the 2 items you got free from the sale).

How to change zip code on coupons.com (update) January 27, 2013

Coupons.com has changed the format of their site yet again. The trick to changing your zip code (discussed HERE) doesn’t work anymore. So here’s the new way to get around…

  • Go HERE and type in the zip code
  • Click the blue arrow
  • Go back to the coupons.com site HERE to print your coupons

This is not an ideal method but it works.

Target online price matching policy January 10, 2013

During the holidays, Target employed an online price matching policy. I’m happy to report that this is now a permanent policy! Target will accept price matches with Target.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, ToysRUs.com, and BabiesRUs.com.

As with regular price matching, this will be taken care of at Guest Services. There are 2 ways to go about this. You can price match BEFORE purchasing by showing the competitor’s price on your phone.  Or if you find a lower price online up to 7 days AFTER your Target purchase, you can show the price on your phone and will be refunded the difference.

A few guidelines:

  • Items must be in stock
  • Clearance, closeout, damaged product, used, refurbished, open packages or liquidation sale prices will not be honored
  • Excludes Target stores in Hawaii and Alaska
  • Target coupons can not be used in addition to an online price match (however, manufacturer coupons CAN be used)

Go HERE to view the full price matching policy.

Tips for using new coupons.com site (changing zip & scrolling to end) September 4, 2012

Coupons.com changed the layout of their site a few weeks ago. As with many changes, this comes with its own set of frustrations. However once you learn a few shortcuts, you can easily navigate the site.

How to change your zip code:

With the old site, there was a zip code option on the home page. Now you will have to click on the “Local Coupons” tab and enter your zip code there.

Then go back to the home page and your zip info will be stored.

How to quickly scroll to the end of coupons:

As you know, you are allowed 2 prints of each coupon. After the first print, the coupon gets sent to the end of the coupon list. You used to be able to select a page number on coupons.com and skip scrolling through the entire list. Since this is not an option anymore, you can use this shortcut. Look for the “Show More Coupons” button:

Click and then hit your space bar 10-15 times. Each click of the space bar will load a section of coupons. By doing it this way, you will see all the pages at once instead of having to tediously go through each one.
